Exploring my Hometown with a Camera

Glen Echo: Historic and Nostalgic

I loved coming here as a kid. I have amazing memories of riding the carosel and trying to convince my parents to buy me some wonderfully sugary thing to eat. Once, my family was caught in a terrible lightening storm and we were stuck under a tent with about a dozen other families. All the kids were told to stay under the stage. It was a real adventure. But I realized, I probably haven't been back to this iconic Maryland mainstay for 20 years.

Visiting at night, while not permitted, was fun. The whole park is lit in neon. And while I didn't see any kids, it was good to see the adult version of this park where I spent so many of my younger days. I left that night feeling charmed and a bit sad at the same time. Makes me want to be 7 again.
