Exploring my Hometown with a Camera

Museums: Portrait Gallery, Building & International Spy

These aren't a part of town or a neighborhood, but they made the cut because I have never been. I loved these museums, especially the Portrait Gallery. I'm a big dork when it comes to presidential stuff, and they have the portraits of each president. Some aren't in the classical style as you might imagine a regal George Washington when you close your eyes. Clinton's portrait is pop art. Nixon's was done by Norman Rockwell.

I love the architecture of the Portrait Gallery. And since it's in this city, it has its own history. After Abraham Lincoln won the presidential election, the receiving line for his inaugural party was down the "Great Hall" (above.) And the room, now lit in a purple hue and full of modern art, is where his inaugural party went down.
